Phishing Exploit Examples

Lets look at some examples that I have received myself.  The fake web page I copied and recreated to include in this site.  It took me about 10 minutes.  Knowing what I know, I could set up a scam like this myself in less than a week.  The hard part would be buying a good botnet and spam e-mail list.

The Complete eBay Scam

Fake EBay e-mail:  eBay needs a correct information from you - Notice the bad grammar.  The link takes you to a site that has been taken down, but which was fraudulent - look at the URL.

Fake EBay Logon Page - They got my password here.  I had to log onto EBay and PayPal to change my password.

Fake EBay Phishing Web Site - Identity theft happens here.  They almost got me, but I got spooked by the level of detail they were looking for.  I bailed before I had clicked Submit, so I got lucky.  This site was up for only 2 days before the web hosting company took it down.  If they send out 1 million emails and got a 2% hit rate, that would net them 20,000 credit card numbers.
